Getting the message home
Magdalen College School, Oxford started a termly newsletter when the new Master took over the Headship.
Each term the newsletter reports the successes and achievements of both the academic and non-academic activities of the school term.
The newsletter soon became an important tool for the school's Development Officer to keep an active dialogue with former generations of pupils. This has lead gift-aid for new school facilities.
The pupils still produced their own magazine and the school has the annual tradition of a yearbook, but the Magdalen News gives a regular report to parents on the schools plans, development and progress on a regular basis.
Published newsletters also provided valuable school background, demonstrating the variety of activities, clubs and societies that give a broader picture of life at the school to prospective parents and pupils. These act as a supplement to the school prospectus..
